E-mail messages with multiple attachments get corrupted in Server-based archive

June 21st, 2010 No comments
Problem
When users archive messages to an 8.5.1 Lotus Domino server (server-based archiving), any archived messages that contain multiple attachments get saved in a state where only the last attachment in the message will be readable.
The message may appear to be intact by showing all the attachment icons in the body, but attempting to launch or detach the attachments displays the error message:
“Invalid or non-existent document: could not save file <filename> to c:\temp\…”
There are no indications of any problem in the server-based archive log. This fault only occurs on a server-based archive, and not when the user is archiving to a local archive.
Symptom
Running a consistency check or “fixup” against the archive file will detect the corrupted messages. Fixup will mark the archive as corrupt and then subsequently remove the complete messages from the archive database.
Resolving the problem
This issue is being tracked as SPR# ADEE84REF5 and is addressed in 8.5.1 Fix Pack 3.
Once the server is upgraded to a fixed release, any subsequent messages archived will be stored correctly. However, for archived messages already impacted, there is no way to automatically recover the lost attachments or the messages from the archive. In such cases, an option is to restore the user’s mail file to a temporary location on the workstation, open it with Notes and then re-archive the original message back to the server.
This issue is also addressed in the next scheduled Domino maintenance release, 8.5.2.

Ещё один каталог Domino-приложений

June 9th, 2010 1 comment

Я только что получил сообщение от одного производителя Domino-приложений о том, что они разместили информацию о своих продуктах в некоем Notes App Store. Оказалось, это новый сайт, цель которого автор обозначил так: “NotesAppStore.com is a volunteer project started by Frank Paolino to create an easy to use (hopefully!) directory of Lotus Notes Apps.”
